Spirali Pasta with Ham
Ingredients
- 500 g Spirali Pasta
- 600 g tomatoes
- 6 cloves garlic
- 1 tsp dried herbs (basil/oregano)
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
- 100 g sliced ham
- 1 tsp sugar
- salt to taste
- 1 pinch pepper
- 1/4 tsp chilli powder (optional)
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan or pecorino cheese

Instructions
- Cut tomatoes into wedges and puree in liquidizer with the dried and fresh chopped herbs. Keep aside a few leaves of basil for garnishing.
- Heat oil and add crushed garlic. Sauté for a minute and add tomato puree, sugar, salt, pepper and chilli powder (optional) and continue cooking for a few minutes. Switch off heat after 2 minutes.
- Boil water with 1 tablespoon of salt and a few drops of oil in a large vessel. Add Spirali pasta and cook till done. Drain.
- Mix cooked Spirali pasta with the seasoned tomato, basil sauce.
- Cut the ham into small pieces. Mix half into the Pasta and sprinkle the rest on top.
- Garnish with a few fresh basil leaves.
- Serve with a generous sprinkling of grated cheese.
